is a workshop and festival with a focus on digital design and architecture that William Gowland, Michael Perkins and Thomas established in 2014. Datum is located in a forest in the UK, acting as a testbed for new ideas and prototypes. Formed of makers, tinkerers and thinkers from the fields of technology, design, film, architecture and fashion, the growing collective relies heavily on collaboration.

Each year, teams explore the woodland to follow new lines of enquiry. Then, using a combination of traditional construction methods and new media technologies, like 3D scanning, real-time data and multi-projection, proposals weave narratives into the rural context. The workshop culminates in a public music festival where revellers are invited to explore, inhabit and celebrate the completed works.
